The University of Jordan organized a scientific field visit for Mechatronics Engineering students to Philadelphia Solar Energy Company as part of efforts to link academic knowledge with practical industrial applications. Students explored industrial automation systems used in the renewable energy sector, including solar panel manufacturing processes, control systems, and quality assurance procedures. The visit effectively connected theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in clean energy.
The University of Jordan organized a local workshop in Aqaba as part of the EU-funded PROMPT project, bringing together stakeholders, researchers, and environmental experts to discuss operational monitoring readiness and pollutant transport prediction in the marine environment. The workshop showcased the project's scientific findings including a decision-support system with real-time simulations, risk assessment tools, and satellite-based leak detection, reaffirming UJ's leading role in promoting scientific innovation and environmental sustainability in the Mediterranean region.
Field activities for the development and sustainability of water and rangeland resources were carried out at the University of Jordan's Drylands Research Station (Mwaqar Station). Prof. Ayed Al-Abdallat, Dean of Agriculture, supervised the rehabilitation of the station's lands in collaboration with the National Center for Agricultural Research. The project monitored natural regeneration of pastures and oversaw water harvesting techniques, including pits and dams, implemented through the Islamic Network for Water Resources Development and Management.
Under the patronage of HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, the University of Jordan in collaboration with GIZ launched the Third Nexus Conference on Energy, Water, Food, and Environment. The conference underscored the urgent need for integrated policies addressing the natural interlinkages between water, energy, food, and environmental systems. Prince El Hassan also called for the establishment of a regional water and energy community to strengthen cooperation across the Levant.
The University of Jordan highlighted a public awareness initiative through a television interview featuring Prof. Dr. Radwan Al-Weshah, an international expert in water engineering. During the interview, he discussed the critical water situation in Jordan, emphasizing that the country suffers from severe water scarcity and one of the lowest per capita water shares in the world. He stressed the importance of implementing effective solutions including improved treatment technologies, irrigation efficiency, and water storage systems.
The Department of Geography at the University of Jordan, through the Alumni and Student Follow-up Committee in Jerash, launched the initiative "Towards a Greener Jordan⦠Let's Start Now." Under the patronage of Jerash Municipality Council Chairman, the initiative included a large-scale tree-planting activity, with over 50 olive, fig, and forest trees planted. Participants included local officials, school representatives, and geography students who played a key role in organizing and planting.
UJ participated in the "Protect and Recycle" initiative at the Ajloun Forest Reserve, organised by the Cultural AttachΓ© at the Saudi Embassy in Jordan in collaboration with SABIC, the Amman Chamber of Industry, and the Ahl Al-Balad initiative. The initiative raised public awareness about the safe use of plastic and the importance of preserving forests. Activities included lectures on the environmental heritage of northern Jordan, awareness sessions on recycling, and competitions related to environmental engagement.
Students from the School of Sports Sciences took part in a cleanup initiative in the Ajloun forests in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ajloun Agriculture Directorate. The students cleaned one of the most important ecological destinations in Jordan. The University of Jordan was praised for its efforts; students were hosted at the Ishtafina Forest Station and invited to visit Ajloun Castle afterward.
On the occasion of Arbor Day, the School of Arts launched the "Plant a Tree" initiative led by the Dean and activity supervisors. More than 200 forest trees, including Aleppo pine and cypress trees, were planted adjacent to the Hamdi Manko Center. The initiative raises awareness within the university community about environmental conservation and fosters social responsibility among students, faculty, and staff.
The School of Medicine organised free medical days at the Faqou'ΚΌ Comprehensive Health Center in Karak and in Jerash Governorate. Clinics covered internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, ENT, and obstetrics. Free laboratory tests were conducted and medications were dispensed. Beneficiaries noted these were the first medical days in their towns in several years.
